What to Expect During a 21-Day Herbal Cleanse
Sep 23, 2026
If you’ve been thinking about doing an herbal cleanse but aren’t quite sure what the experience actually looks like, you’re not alone.
One of the biggest reasons people hesitate to begin a cleanse is simply because they don’t know what to expect.
Will I have to fast?
Am I going to be running to the bathroom all day?
Do I have to eat completely raw food?
What exactly am I supposed to be doing for 21 days?
So let’s talk about it.
My 21-Day Parasite & Candida Cleanse was created as a supportive herbal protocol designed to work alongside intentional eating, hydration and healthy elimination - not starvation or extreme restriction.
Why 21 Days?
Twenty-one days gives you enough time to create consistency.
Rather than taking herbs for a few days and stopping, the goal is to support the body over several weeks while also changing the environment that allows unwanted organisms and yeast to thrive.
During the cleanse, you’ll use two herbal blends each day:
Root & Rise (the morning blend) contains herbs traditionally used to support digestive wellness and cleansing.
Release & Restore (the evening blend) focuses on digestion, elimination and helping the body move waste out efficiently.
The two blends work together as part of the full protocol.
You Still Eat
This is not a liquid fast.
You should be eating throughout the cleanse.
I recommend keeping meals as whole-food and plant-forward as possible by focusing on foods such as vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, whole grains, herbs and other minimally processed foods.
Raw foods are a beautiful addition during the cleanse but eating completely raw is not required.
What matters most is reducing the foods that can make the process harder on your body.
During the 21 days, I recommend avoiding:
-
Alcohol
-
Meat
-
Highly processed foods
-
Refined and processed sugar
Think of it less as deprivation and more as giving your digestive system a break.
Hydration Matters More Than You Think
Water is incredibly important during any cleansing protocol.
Your digestive system needs adequate fluid to keep things moving especially when you’re increasing herbs and plant foods.
Throughout the day, drink plenty of spring and or coconut water and pay attention to how your body feels.
I also begin my mornings with spring water, fresh lemon or lime and liquid chlorophyll after drinking my morning tea.
The goal is to support the body through hydration during the cleansing process.
Elimination Is Part of the Process
One of the most important parts of cleansing is making sure your body is eliminating regularly.
Your body naturally removes waste through the digestive tract, kidneys, skin, lungs and other elimination pathways.
That’s one reason the evening tea in my protocol focuses so heavily on digestive and elimination support.
Your Experience May Not Look Like Someone Else’s
This is important.
Some people notice digestive changes quickly.
Others notice changes in energy, cravings, bloating, bathroom habits or how they feel after eating.
And some people may experience very subtle changes.
The goal is to become more aware of your body and support it consistently for 21 days.
The Cleanse Is About More Than the Tea
The herbs are only one part of the experience.
The 21 days are also an opportunity to become intentional about what you’re eating, how much water you’re drinking, how regularly you’re eliminating and how your body responds to different foods.
Sometimes the biggest benefit of a cleanse is simply paying attention again.
When was the last time you really listened to what your body was trying to tell you?
