Slowing Down is Sacred
Aug 30, 2025
We live in a culture that glorifies the hustle. The message is clear: move faster, work harder, do more. Productivity is praised, exhaustion is worn like a badge of honor and slowing down is often seen as weakness. But what if rest is not only necessary—it’s revolutionary?
Allowing yourself to rest in a world that constantly pushes for more is an act of rebellion. It reminds us that our bodies, minds and spirits are not machines to be pushed past their limits but sacred vessels that need care, nourishment and stillness.
And here’s the truth: your ancestors weren’t given this luxury. For many of us, those who came before us carried the weight of survival, oppression and endless labor. They didn’t get to stop. They didn’t get to exhale. Choosing rest today is not just about you. It’s about honoring them.
When you rest, you reclaim your humanity. You give your nervous system a chance to reset, your creativity room to flourish and your soul a space to breathe. Rest is not a reward you earn - it’s a birthright.
So this weekend, I challenge you to choose rest boldly. Take a nap without guilt. Turn your phone off. Cancel plans if you need to. Pour a cup of tea, curl up somewhere soft and remind yourself: you are allowed to pause.
Rest is resistance. Rest is healing. Rest is your reminder that you are more than enough, even in stillness.
