5 Things I Learned from the 2019 Daniel Fast

Ya’ll, we made it!! The Daniel Fast ended yesterday and it was a beautiful experience. Now that it’s complete, I’ve had a few minutes to breath and reflect. I wanted to share with you 5 things that I’ve learned from this year’s fast. I hope you’ll do the same.

5. Every Daniel Fast is different

The 2019 Daniel Fast is my 13th. It’s just crazy for me to even write that. I can’t believe it myself. I went from eating raw baby carrots and OD’ing on smoothies that first year to cooking up some pretty delicious dishes that have become staples in the Miner house.

I’ve had years where I was super focused and connected. And not so great years when I was not in the right headspace and did it out of obligation or to shed a few pounds. Each year has truly been unique. Same 21-day journey, same path but different perspectives or a mindset shift can totally change it’s value (#message).

4. Every Daniel Fast is the same

As much as things change, they remain the same. Although I was at various places mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally over the last 13 years, I never regret completing the fast each year. There is always something valuable learned. Growth and my relationship with the Lord grew even in those years where I was barely making it. In fact, it was often what set me on a better path. God can and will reach you wherever you are. You’re never too lost, never too far gone, never in a place that His love can’t save save you.

3. Community is a powerful thing

A community is a group of people we lean on when times are tough; our friends, family, and neighbors who are there for us when we need love, support and encouragement.

Jesus said, “for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” He was most definitely with us as we walked through the 21-days together. Doing this with you guys gave me LIFE! You have truly inspired me and each other. My passion for cooking, trying new recipes and exploring new foods has been reignited. More importantly, this was confirmation for me that walking in God’s purpose for your life is fulfilling in unimaginable ways. I’m so grateful for this community.

2. There is power in your purpose

I prayed for 2 years to find my purpose. God gave me the vision for Eat Plants & Prosper in September 2018. The first thing He laid on my heart to complete after launching the site was the Daniel Fast. If you are reading this and aren’t actively pursing God’s purpose for your life, I encourage you (I dare you!) to step out on faith and watch how He provides unreal blessings to you and through you.

1. God knows no limits

Listen folks, I know this isn’t breaking news but when He just keeps blowing your mind time after time you gotta give him the glory (*shoulder shrug*).

I prayed for 100 people to join the Daniel Fast. I thought that number was pretty high. I just launched this blog just. I’m only a one-man band with help from some amazing folks here and there. I do work in marketing and media but I’ve never done ANYTHING like this before. So I felt like I was really stretching.

God said, “Nah, bigger”. 233 people joined the 2019 Daniel Fast. He doubled my request and added 33 just for good measure! He will take your “I just…”, “I’m only…” and “but I’ve never” and turn it into something life changing. All we have to do was stop limiting a limitless God.

I’m so grateful to each of you who took the time to share recipes, encouragement and discuss your journeys. You are so appreciated and I believe that God has great things in store for us in 2019.
