Now That You Have More of it, Use Your Time Wisely

I hope this post finds you well. There is obviously a LOT going on these days. My main objective has been to remain prayerful, positive and peaceful. I also want to be sure to spread as much light as possible when the daily 24 hour news cycle is very bleak. It’s easy to become scared and anxious during this time but I want to encourage you to have faith. The current events may have taken us aback but they are no surprise to God. He’s still in control. We can gather our hope and courage from that fact.

Here are a few helpful tips that have come to mind over the last few days of being homebound.

When things seem out of control, control what you can.

Routine is your friend. It’s great to not have to rush like a mad women every morning but the days that have flowed the smoothest for me have been those where I stick to a routine of working out in the morning, showering and then grabbing coffee.

This has helped set the tone for the day for me. Having a routine (especially a morning routine) has been known to increase productivity and reduce stress. It allows you to control the day not the other way around which is exactly what we need these days.

When things seem disconnected, find connection.

We’re supposed to be practicing social distancing by keeping ourselves at least 6 feet from others. This can create feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Instead, we can find the time to connect with ourselves. Some of us have been avoiding that for years (*ahem, raises hand*). Look within. Use this as opportunity to work on what you need to transform into the highest version of you. This is a great time to start journaling and setting personal goals. Spend quality time with yoself so you can emerge from all of this better.

This is also obviously a great time to connect with those in your own home. Play some board games, do some puzzles or take a walk together. If you live alone, FaceTime or call your family and friends. Get creative! Work on you, connect with those you are blessed to share a space and life with.

Use your time wisely.

I spend 3-4 hours a day dropping off/picking up my kids and commuting to and from work (I know, it’s insane!). I’m looking at this as an opportunity to be super productive by using the extra time I now have. I’m finally reading the books I haven’t had a chance to get to. I’m spending extra time working out, practicing yoga longer daily and meditating more. Since we are being forced to slow down, use it to your advantage. Take a nap, pray, read, write that book you’ve been putting off, pick up a new hobby you’ve been wanting to try. You’ve got extra time on your hands, use it to invest in you.

Take your health seriously.

Last but not least, you know I had to shamelessly plug how our current situation should be causing us to hyper-focus on our health. The importance of having a healthy immune system is paramount. Since 80% of our immune system is in our gut, what you eat truly determines how healthy you are and the ability for your body to fight off everything from the flu to cancer.

One of the things that is getting lost in all of the COVID-19 news is that the majority of people that we’ve lost have had underlying health conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and obesity. These are all lifestyle diseases linked with the way a person lives their life. Making better lifestyle choices including diet and exercise can not only prevent the detrimental outcome of the diseases listed above but they can leave us less susceptible to other dangerous illnesses like Coronavirus. It is now more imperative than ever to take control of your health.

I’m committed to helping those with the lifestyle diseases above. If this is you, and you’re ready to transform your health, I’m offering 50% off of 3 months of my health coaching services for the first 5 people to email me here. Let’s use this extra time in the best way possible.

Take good care.

xo,

Whitney
